    Cant get video chat to worl

    Is video chat with ichat able to work with aim?

    not really, no.

    edit: if you use your aim account with ichat, you can still video chat, but chatting with someone using aim (the windows program) video chatting is a no go. you can video chat with other mac users. i think there might actually be a mac-pc video chat project or maybe thats in development for ichat or something... i dont really remember.

    I never tried ichat or aim. No one I know uses aim so cant test it. I can tell you MSN, both the MS MSN Messenger for Mac and the aMSN (supports webcam but no voice), Adrium and mercury all don't support video chat. Yahoo messenger supports webcam but no voice. Only program that I have found to make video chat work between windows and mac is skype. Skype for mac is not nearly as good as the windows version but it works.

    I tried Video chat with a friend using AIM ids in iChat but it just wouldnt work. Only program i found to work in MacOS and video chat is Skype.

    so with skype asong as its with other skype users its free?

    yeah voice, cam and chat between internet users is free for skype. Calling from Skype to a normal telephone costs money.

    So to video chat from a MBP to a PC both parties need skype?

    I use Mercury to webcam but there is no sound

    I've used iChat before to video chat with a PC using aim, worked fine.
