Hello everyone, I'm having an annoying problem that I can't seem to solve.

I use a Bluetooth keyboard (Apple), and wireless USB Logitech mouse with my MBP. I'll give you an example of what is happening: I'm composing an email (either Hotmail or Gmail, it does not matter), I'm attempting to attach a photo, or document, or anything that has a long list, (example: from my iPhoto pics), and when I use the scroll-wheel to roll the pictures down, they all freeze. I can't roll them up or down, even if I wait for them to buffer. After a few seconds, SOMETIMES they will allow me to roll a little, but it's not a buffering issue. It even does it if I'm scrolling through the "DOCUMENTS" list, or ANY list that I'm searching through. ONLY WHEN I'M COMPOSING AN EMAIL. I can reach over to my MBP and use the track-pad and scroll fine. It's just with the cordless mouse (USB, not Bluetooth). I tried a different Logitech cordless mouse and it does the same thing, but when I use a true "plug-in" mouse, directly into the side of the MBP, it works fine. If the mini USB stick is plugged directly into the MBP it does it, or if the stick is plugged into a powered USB dock, it still does it.

Any ideas as to why this annoying situation occurs?

    Thanks in advance.

Anyone have a theory on this? I can live with it, but it's pretty annoying! If anyone else has a similar configuration, please try it.

Odd I've never had an issue such as this and I have a logitech mouse as well on my MBP, it's like yours a USB wireless mouse. Have you tried reinstalling the drivers or something of that nature?

what kinda logitech mouse though? some of the USB plug in wireless ones are really using bluetooth and might cause interference, but I'd suspect it would be much more obvious than that if it was...

Not sure I follow where all it happens though, is it just in the one application it happens, and no where else?

Yes, that's right.... it only happens when I am attempting to attach anything to an email, when I have to scroll down a list. For example: I have hundreds of pictures in my iPhoto, so if I were composing an email, and then trying to scroll down the pictures to find the one I want to click onto, the list "freezes", but only with my cordless mouse. The standard "corded" one is fine. My old cordless mouse is the MX 1000 which I LOVE and is by far the best mouse I have ever owned, but it finally died and they don't make them anymore.... I can't even find a new one on ebay. The new cordless mouse I am using is the MX Revolution. Also, for example, if I attempt to attach a song from my iTunes, and I begin to scroll down the list, same thing.... it freezes. Try this: Open your Hotmail, begin to compose a new message, hit the "Attach" tab, and then if you have the newer version of Hotmail you will have to click "Browse", and then click "Photos", and begin to scroll down the list. Anyone experience this? I just tried it again right now, and with a list of music files too.... same thing.

EDIT: Just tried it from my Gmail account and it does exactly the same thing.

In summary: Scrolls fine with built-in track-pad.... scrolls fine with "CORDED" mouse...... scrolls brutally with "CORDLESS" mice, regardless of whether I plug the receiver into the USB port on the computer, or the powered USB dock I have.

I can use the slide-bar thingey on the right side of the screen to scroll the pics up and down, or I can use the arrow-up, and arrow-down as well, but I prefer the wheel on the mouse. One thing I love about Mac over Windows is that I never need to use that silly slide-bar. These notebooks are so much more intuitive.

WHOAAAAA, get this: Well, there is more to this than I thought. I normally use Firefox, and the problem occurs with both Hotmail and Gmail, so I JUST tried Safari, and the problem is gone with Hotmail, but NOT on Gmail.... haha, STRANGE!!!

So: HOTMAIL is fine with Safari, but GMAIL presents the problem with BOTH browsers. Any other ideas? I prefer Firefox as a browser, hands-down!.... but I don't want to go back to Safari because of another annoying problem. See this thread if you're curious: (this one was driving me nuts too):

Did you install the Logitech Control Center app? Just a question, might solve your scrolling issues.

I have a Logitech MX Nano with my MBP, no issues of you speak of on both Firefox 3.5 and Safari 4.

Yes, I installed the Control Center....... with both Mice. I uninstalled Safari 4 a long time ago because it has some major compatibility issues with Hotmail.
