    Folks,

I'm in a dilemma. I can't decide between the 2 models of the MBP. I wonder if the price diff of about $800 is worth it for the additional 50GB of HDD space, the extra 256MG of Gfx RAM and the different processor (2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 3MB shared L2 cache VS 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 6MB shared L2 cache). My main use of the MBP will be for work with the occasional gaming (which I can now do thanks to the better Gfx card), photo editing etc.

I'm currently using a year-old MB Black and am keen to move up. Suggestions/comments appreciated Smiley

    Thanks!
    T'spaz

For $800, I'd say not worth it :p. 50 GB of HDD space, not really worth it...the slightly better processor, not worth that much...the only real deciding factor should be the extra VRAM, but for $800, not enough for me.

Thanks, Sam. BTW, the $800 is in Singapore Dollars (which is where I am). This translates to about US$500+. I don't know if that changes your opinion :)

Ah, well, that helps reduce the significant price difference :p. But still, at $500...unless you're a real avid gamer, I'd go for the lower priced model.

Thanks, fellas :) Great feedback. I think I'll opt for the lower end MBP and use the extra $ for accessories etc :)

(Unless someone can convince me otherwise)

    Heh :)

I think I only need the 2.4, but I want the 2.5. I can't think of any good reason to use the 2.5. Out of curiosity, how does the 2.4, 8600M GT take on a game like COD4? I'm just interested to see what sort of power it has.

Excellent. I'm pretty much sold on the lower spec MBP. I may spend the extra $ on more RAM but it's unlikely I'll need it. Thanks for the feedback.

The 2.5GHz also has 6MB cache, compared to 3MB for the 2.4GHz.

Still not really worth the $500.

Yeah, I don't think the kinda work I do would really make use of the extra cache space and gfx RAM.

    Thanks for your feedback.
