Can someone tell me the 2014 macbook air's display is glossy or non-glossy display? if it's glossy is it traditional glossy or they gave it some special treatment to make it less glossy?

It is glossy, similar to other notebooks with a standard glossy display. It isn't as glossy as the MacBook Pro (including Retina) models as those are glass coated. I believe it is a special treatment that makes it glossy, a clear plastic coat/film that is applied over the display.

slightly off topic since question is answered...the glossy screens of Macbooks are not really as reflective as other laptops...i used to have lot of problem with my HP laptop watching a movie with any lights in the room as it reflects a lot.

with macbooks..the glossy doesnt reflect much

I think the MacBook Pros, with the glass coating, are more reflective than other standard glossy displays I have used (i.e. non-glass coated). My Dell notebook from 2005 had a glossy display along with my 2009 HP netbook, Toshiba convertible notebook from 2008, and a few other systems from Dell and HP. They all had standard glossy displays and my 13" MacBook Pro (my first MacBook Pro) was a lot more reflective than them. My 13" MacBook Air was better but I upgraded to a 15" MacBook Pro so I'm back to a glass coated display that is pretty reflective. As it stands, I have to turn off all lights and shut all the blinds if I want to view my MacBook Pro's display without any reflection.

I don't really find it annoying as I'm used to glossy displays but, in my experience, the glass coating makes it a lot more reflective than other standard glossy notebooks without glass.

in my personal experience, I found MBP to be less reflective in different lighting conditions.

i found the new Dell XPS 15 to be also slightly more reflective.
