    Greetings everyone!

The wife has an early 2008 MBP that she has been using in our sunroom as a "smoking computer".........

It's held up pretty well for the last 2-3 years of her abusing the poor thing (I will wipe it down and take it apart from time to time to clean it up/out. But now sadly it will not boot anymore. The battery has been dead for a solid year and half now having less than 1 minute of use time with a full charge.

What I'm wondering is; Can an early 2008 MBP run w/o a battery normally? If so I can prove that the battery isn't the problem. If anyone has any other ideas please don't be shy!

    Thanks!
    Clark

Yes, it can; people do this all the time.

Here's the test - take out the battery, plug in the AC, and start. If it works that way, and doesn't when the battery's put back in, then that's it.

Thanks for your help, I got home later that day and cleaned everything up nicely and have figured out that it's the logic board... sad face. RIP old MBP.

My mom's Dell laptop has been running with no battery for a year now.
With a look from Google, it looks like the 2008 Macbook Pro has numerous complaints with the logic board.
