Since my processor (T7700) uses an 800 MHz FSB, can it effectively use 800 MHz RAM (PC6400)? And would it be a worthy upgrade?

don't think it can. Pretty sure almost all laptop platforms still run at 667mhz

Agree to that!

it cannot, and even if it could, it would not be worth the money required to upgrade.
you already have a wonderful laptop system though. well done. i'll upgrade to 4GB sooner or later. -
You'll have to wait for Montevina to use RAM at 800 MHz.

There will not be any Intel support for DDR2 800 memory. Both Napa and Santa Rosa chipsets only support DDR2 667 and the upcoming Montevina chipset will support DDR3 800 and DDR3 1066. Bandwidth wise it's not a disadvantage since dual channel DDR2 667 has a lot more bandwidth than can fit through a 800MHz FSB.

Thanks for the replies guys - I remember now hearing that Montevina would bring 800 MHz support, don't know why I forgot that when I was pondering this. Thanks again for the help!
Can Santa Rosa effectively use 800 MHz RAM?
