    Can I use my macbook tiger OS cd to install on friends macbook?

    He can't find his Tiger CD and he needs to downgrade to do his work.

    Can he use my install cd on his macbook? We both have intel processors.

    It is actually legal to use a Mac's OS X disc on a different Mac which also initially came with the same version of OS X, since the OS X license is licensed to a Macintosh computer, not to the actual OS X disc that came with the Mac.

    Not if you need to upgrade several computers, I think (from reading the above statements).

    Yeah, upgrading would mean installing a version of OS X that did not originally come with the purchase of your Mac computer.
    As the Mac you purchase only has the license for the version of OS X it came with and not any other version, using 1 upgrade disc on multiple Macs which are not licensed to the particular version of OS X of the upgrade disc would be breaking the EULA.
