    So it looks like they have only a 2.0 and 2.4ghz cpus. That means no new Penryns in there. At best the 2.0ghz could be what.. a T7300? My guess is that it's a T5750 or maybe T5800. Yes? The 2.4ghz means it's prob a T8300 maybe? They should have offered the P8400 on entry level the Macbook, especially with the $300 price increase. I mean the $1000 Macbook has a T8100 doesn't it? So they raised the price $300 and put an inferior CPU in it.

    For the Macbook Pro starts at 2.4ghz which is prob the T8300, or maybe even a P8600? The 2.53ghz is likely a P8700? 2.66 P9600?

    Yeh same here.
    Intel CPU's have these TXXXx, PXXXX, QXXXXX, ect names.
    I personally like to go by the GHz but I understand why they have these names like T, P, QX, ect.
    I don't know how they make up the names like P8400=2.2GHz and P8600=2.4GHz :confused: what does th 8400 and 8600 stand for?

    It's just a name they give the processors. Doesn't stand for anything. That chart they linked to above is a good table.

    P is the battery saver
    T is the middle road
    X is the...

    there are also others that consume less Watt down the line below P, something similar to the LV and ULV in the older days.

    x--- : model/generation names
    -x-- : speed
    --x- : FSB rating
    ---0 : i think this is always 0

    (P) is a (T) at -10w TDP and depending on model, 3mb or 6mb cache.
    X is Extreme Editions
    Q = Quad editions
    R = Really, Really GREAT editions (ok, that's a complete fabrication ;) )
