I play warcraft III and I alt-tab out of the game all the time.

But in OS X, CMD+Tab doesn't work... Does anyone know of a way to switch out of full screen games?

    Thanks,

*bump* I just installed this game and, to my horror, am unable to apple-tab out of it. Help? I've tried all the key combos that I could think of.

I play on Lordaeron (West). Mostly Dota. I did figure it out, though. Apple-M will make the game run in a window and from there one can select different applications. However, as I was playing the game, it crashed. It was a Mac-specific failure, too. My friend as LAN gaming with me and his PC continued working. Guess it's back to the Dell m1210, for me! Dota is too important for me to waste my time on an unstable system.

I play on west too! Yeah well that is why it is recommended you boot to Windows for gaming when on a mac. Try that and see how stable it is :).

I'd send an email to the software company... it sounds like they have buggy code.

If it's a Mac specific failure, then they really should get on that fix.

Right, as far as I can tell, Apple does not let you alt-tab in full screen games. But games like WoW also kill all my Apple specific shortucts. I.E. I cannot go to dashboard or anything like that.
Not 100% sure why, but I assume OS X doesn't want to override in game shortcuts. Just like Cmd+q won't close the game. Only solution is to window the game first.

Found the answer! Apple-M lets one switch from full screen to windowed mode. From there, one can do whatever. For Dota, however, I'm sticking to the PC - need banlist, etc. =P
