    I have rather short question.

So after i tried to run my cpu in turbo mode in windows i found out that cooling suxx (it just turned off). Anyhow i am guessing that better cooling = slower cooler speed = more silent notebook. So it will never hurt to make your notebook run cooler in any os.

Now i read that getting some expensive thermal paste and applying it properly can make you cpu run 10-15% cooler. Is it true? Anyone done it?
I have friends in local apple service so i think they can replace the paste or do whatever i ll ask them )

flip a coin on that question, two of my MBP's came from factory with a horrid application of thermal paste and we repasted them with ICD7 which did help quite a bit on them 7-8C. but I find the MBP's all run alot hotter in windows and it seems best to use a fan controller and ramp up the speed and ignore the fan noise.

I repasted my MBP too when I first got it. All notebooks have pretty bad thermal paste from the manufacturer. Only expection might be the gaming laptops tailer made by the smaller retailers. Some even have options for special thermal paste at extra cost.

I found that my ideal temps are a little lower. The max load temperatur rises slower but after 30 minutes of load reaches almost the same max. temp. I guess the limiting factor is the heatsync and fan.

For others reading here, keep in mind that your cpu warranty is going to be null and void if you do this :).

Apple notebooks run warmer when doing Windows because the cpu power management drivers in BootCamp are not optimized for Windows work, and Apple has never announced plans to support Windows in more complete fashion on this point over the past 5 years. Such is the trade-off if you want to run Windows on your Apple notebook/desktop.

    Not true.

Your warranty is void only if you damage something in the process.

If you can safely take apart and put your system back together (without damage) then your warranty will be intact.

So for the OP, if he has his friends in the local apple care do it he is fine (double coverage)
