Has anyone bought a MBP from a retail store with a student discount?
Meaning - do the Apple stores let you use your student discount at their stores? what documents do you have to bring to prove to them you are a student?

NB: I will be going into my first year of University next year. However, I do not have a student card yet, but do have a student number.

I will also not be able to buy it from the University store as it is in a different province from where I live and I would much rather get it sooner.

I'm sure aslong as you have the student number you'll be fine. The people that work in Apple stores are really nice.

From what I've heard, they're really easygoing about that stuff, as long as you can prove it in one way or another, they'll let you go :).

The only difference between instore and online, is that if you want to customize the laptop in any way, you have to do it online. (Other then matte or glossy)

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I got a similar question..

I'm from Holland but will be in the US in 3 days. I'm registered to a university based in Amsterdam. How high would you rate my chances of getting the student disount at the Apple Store in LA or SF?

Doesn't work with EU students in the States. I was in the same boat, and when I tried to buy my MBP with the discount, they told me I had to be registered in an US university.

    Damn bastardges! :D

415-242-7890 is the phone number for the San Francisco Stonstown Apple Store. Give them a call, ask and hope for the best. Good luck.

Doesn't sound good, reading cdnalsi's comment, but I'll try anyway. I won't call, I'll just show up in store. Calling is a bit expensive, around $5/min :D
