Can I buy a MBP for someone with the teaching discount, or would that invalidate the warranty?

I think you can. It's like a dad buying a Mac for their kid with a student discount.

it would probably depend on your relationship to the third party. If you're just a friend with the person, then unless they shipped it directly to that person I would assume they would not because they have no guarantee it is going to get into the third parties hands. But like M@lew said, if its like a dad buying for a kid, or something like that I would expect so.
