I am getting the new 2.4ghz macbook and i was wondering what is the advantage of buying it through apple. I wanted to get it through Amazon because after all is said and done I would be getting it about for 150$ cheaper through Amazon then at apple. But does Apple give u anything Amazon wont give like a free 1 yr warranty or something like that? Thanks.

If the item is new, an item purchased from Amazon would carry the same warranty as it would if purchased directly from Apple. You would also be eligible to purchase an AppleCare extended warranty from Apple, even though you purchased the computer elsewhere. I had purchased a refurb iPod off eBay, and I was still able to buy a much-needed AppleCare plan for it.

If the Macbook ends up being cheaper from Amazon, I say go for it. If you're an Amazon Prime member, the inexpensive express shipping means you'd get the machine faster as well.

Just a side question, can you purchase the AppleCare warranty at a much later date, as long as it's within the first year? Like say, a few months after?

It makes no difference. However, keep in mind, that no matter when you buy it within that first year, the coverage applies from the date which you bought the computer.

It doesn't matter where you purchase a Mac, you will still get the 1-year Limited Warranty from Apple. Just buy it where its cheapest! As long as its a credible place (and Amazon definitely is).
