Theres really no way around it, Apple controls all of its hardware and what model has what available and the SuperDrive is not available with the 1.8Ghz version, only with the 2.0Ghz versions.

This issue has been covered before here on the forums, and some people stated you can buy SuperDrive from other places but expect problems with it. Also Apple will not cover it under warranty, in matter of fact it would void your notebooks warranty if you did such a thing because it's not a self-user upgradeable (DIY).

So you kind of stuck between two things here, either get the 2.0Ghz with SuperDrive and have that nice useful warranty, or get the 1.8Ghz and kill off the warranty when you do the upgrade. The decision is yours.

I don't know where you can get SuperDrives seperately, but I do know a few people here do, and I'm sure they'll see this thread and post your answer.

P.S. The warranty is worth it, because if in the event something goes wrong with something (especially your LCD) you won't have to pay the 400+ dollars to fix it.

well thanks for the quick reply.

Hmmm sounds really odd to me that i cant get the 1.83ghz with superdrive - so in other words, people with lesser demands than a 2ghz Core Duo doesent have the needs for burning dvd´s?!!!!

Guess i´ll have to google for a external dvd-rw then, eventhoug, thats def. not the optimal solution.

Dont get me wrong i would like the 2ghz model, but in my current situation i dont really have the luxury to splash out anoter 2k DKK or almost 350$ to the 2ghz/superdrive model.

Ya, it is just Apple's way of getting you to go to the next model up. It kinda stinks. If you don't do a ton of burning then an external won't be too bad. They are much cheaper than they used to be and smaller too.

    Have you considered a refurb'd 2.0GHz model?
