according to mac rumor's buying guide it just recently updated this november 1, is it better to buy one now or wait till the next one,

    here is my situation:

im leaving the states on march or april 08
    - dunno if anything comes out at this date, because i want to get the latest model before i leave. shall i wait?

according to mac rumor. it seems that new updates comes out every 6 months for macbook. hmmm probably next may 08 the next comes out or earlier? mannn, this sucks. hehheheh

or wait for macworld 08 for accuracy. if its coming out on may im gonna buy one right now so i can use it :D im so excited but then patience pays off if done right.

If you don't mind waiting then you should wait until your last week of stay at the states, and buy it then, if it has been updated, great, if not, well, you'll still get a great laptop.

Waiting also has its perks in that they'll be cheaper if you can find a used one(ebay/craigslist/local market). There's a slight chance that the macbook may get a small update, but I don't think there will be much to update it to in that time frame.

Its hard to say when the next update is going to be. Apple will generally follow Intel's releases from now on, but the MacBook has been behind for a while (didn't have Santa Rosa until November, when the MBP already had it in June).

As they always say, wait if you can, if you can't wait, then get it when you need it. Of course, if you wait later on, newer technology will be released, but nothing is going to be amazingly revolutionary that the previous model would become "obsolete". The Core Duos are still very powerful, considering software hasn't caught up yet.

well i was thinking of a refresh design not just updates. thanks for the replies guys, hmmmm man hope this is good, mayeb i'll wait until macworld see what's up. but im so excited lolz. i was hoping for a 13inch macbook pro type. this is going to be my first mac btw and first laptop. hoping to speng a little over $2000, i was thinking of the high end white macbook then add 250gb hd and 2gb ram. plus employee accomodation and student discount :p. i can wait but i want to pay it monthly until i leave dont wanna cash it :D.

-if i buy apple care here in the states and went other countries, can i use it at any apple store international and get it fix?

Yes, Apple's warranty is worldwide and user-transferable.

The next MacBook update... if it follows Intel.. will just be a hardware (CPU) upgrade. If that's the case... buy the MB now; a more significant update will come when Intel releases its new mobile platform.

The next Intel update is the release of Penryn processors in early 2008, probably around January. The MBP should be updated around that time, the MacBook is harder to say.

I would not expect any price change on the Macs. Maybe even a slight price drop, but I don't see a price increase.

It's true... Apple like to keep prices the same while updating hardware with the times. That's why they phase out older models as soon as the new ones arrive.

I'm not too sure if I understand this right...are you asking how long it takes for a product to ship once its announced by Apple? Usually, available right away. iPhone and AppleTV were exceptions.

Yes, there will probably be new MacBook Pros around early 2008. MacBooks, harder to say, as it was updated last just in early November.
