Hey I was just wondering if there would be any issues with putting bumper stickers on an MPB, specifically on the lid. The main problem I can think of that it might cause is overheating, but I'm kind of assuming as long as you don't cover any vents it should be OK. Any advice?

It wont block any vents or anything, as the only vents in the MBP are in the hinge and through the keyboard. I do have to recommend against putting stickers on your computer, though. Not only will it mar the lovely aesthetics of the MBP, but it could possibly ruin the finish. Sticker residue can be nasty stuff for this type of equipment.

The thought makes me cringe...I don't see how people would be willing to put bumper stickers on a shiny new car either :p

    Oh well...

I doubt it'd matter too much on the lid - it's just a lid after all, and the lid itself doesn't even get that hot.

The lid of the screen wont cause any heat problems. There is no heat on the back of the LED screen. there are plastic covers for the palm rests for protections. So a sticker is pretty much the same. I see no problem. Some stickers might not stick too well on the metal surface or leave stuff behind when peeled off.

You can cover your entire notebook top with orange peels and i won't cause any overheating problems.. just don't cover the vents and maybe even the bottom of your notebook

Me too. The only reason to put a sticker on a laptop is if it's NOT a Mac. Then what you need to do is get one of those white Apple Logo stickers to put on the center of your lid so that people will think it IS a Mac.

OGMZ!one! you put STIX on your PERFECT MACBOOK.... Jobz should TAKE YOURS AWAY!

Plenty of people do it and the rather nice magnesium finish lets them peel off fine.

You could put a big Windows logo sticker on it. Or the Linux penguin....

speaking of stickers, check this out:
    http://www.totallogicsecurity.com/index2.html

Anyone willing to stick that thing on their laptop even for added security? (the tech guys here actually use a similar sticker system and trying to get everyone to adopt too heh)

Stickers? Big deal. I know a couple of MBP owners who have drawn some drawings in sharpie on their "precious" MBP lids. I would say that this is much worse than placing stickers on your notebook, not that I would do either...

I'm sure it won't ruin anything. I think stickers look quite nice actually.

How about a clear (or colored) Speck cover, covered with stickers? You could always scrape them off of the cover, or just remove it when you want to show off the sveltness of the MBP later. :)
