Brother has a Macbook air 11" that will not power on. This happened one week after his 1 year warranty.

I want to try and fix it for him before sending it to Apple. Any help would be appreciated.

Were there any warning signs / problems before things went south?

Just saying it won't turn on does not mean anything to us.
Can you give us more details? Are any lights working? Did anything go wrong before it failed to startup?

Is there any chance that it has a dead battery AND a dead AC adapter? Do you have any other AC adapters that you could try using? Maybe they can try at an Apple Store.

sorry, best guess is fractured mainboard. my 4 year old killed one of mine by twisting it. you can try another power adaptor if a friend has one.

Take it in again, and ask to speak to a manager. I used to work at Apple when I was in school, and they often repaired macs that were several months out of warranty. Be firm but polite. Tell them you're disappointed that the machine lasted 12 months and 1 week, etc.

As long as it's not water damage, they will fix it, and trust me, it's worth it. Repairs on out of warranty macs are pricey. Good luck.
