I should've dumped windows a loong time ago.

This little laptop runs a heck of a lot faster than my dell 17" with vista on it.

Downloads are faster, surfing the web is faster. Itunes runs 100 times better.

    Love it.

Now to find great freeware software & games.....

There are a lot of factors that could easily have accounted for your poor experience with that laptop as opposed to your new laptop.

EDIT: I'm not here to argue; I just want to pick on details.

Congrats. Although I heard Mac's fondle you while you're sleeping. (Hey there's so many other rumors about Macs, why not add another!?) :D

I'm currently looking at a MacBook to round out my collection. There's just something appealing about Mac's....

The Dell didn't have OSX, Bog. Some of us just like OSX, and are suckers for pretty faces . . . uh, notebooks (I like the white ones best). LOL

didn't do much. It just felt that it took too much memory and the vista look didnt really do much for me.

Main reason I bought a macbooks is that I can take it anywhere. I got tired lugging the 17 inch dell around so I bought a external screen (really helps if I have to work from home) and leave it at home now.

Sorry guy but your post is of total ignorance from a Windows user's perspective. You have no idea how much of the same software is available on both Windows and Mac OS X. A lot of the same software is written better on OS X and there are a lot of popular apps that are Mac only.

Welcome to the "dark side"...it's also the better side :)

As was mentioned before, MacUpdate is good, as is Versiontracker.

This may be taboo, but macrumors is a very helpful forums site as well. They have some great switchers guides and things like that.

www.leoparddocks.net to customize the appearance of your dock. (the default one makes it a bit difficult to see the lights, so I suggest a darker one.) As for wallpapers you can try here: http://www.ewallpapers.eu/

I just switched to MAC about 3 weeks ago. I love it. However the only thing that I hate about it is the fact that MS office 08 doesn't seem to work well on Leopard. Other than that, I am a Mac fan now. :)

I was concerned about just that before I switched. I've had my mbp since february and I can now safely say that there isn't one thing that I did on my windows PC that I can't do on my mbp without running windows. Transition was seamless for me.

I can honestly say I haven't ran into any major compatibility issue during my switch to Mac OS X. There are very good equivalents of all major software applications, most file formats are cross-platform compatible. Adobe software, Microsoft Office, JPEGs, different video files, different audio files...really.

Congrats on your new macbook! :) I've had mine for a little more than a year now and I love it.

For wallpapers, Interfacelift is a fantastic place to find some. :)

Also, be sure to check out Sam's Switcher Guide. (Sticked in the Mac forum)

That's a great wallpaper site that I use a lot. I've also found some nice wallpapers at http://www.natures-desktop.com/

How do you like the Mac version of Open Office? Would you recommend it over Neo Office?
