So since Bootcamp 3.0 is out what's more sensible to use; XP or seven? I know originally, Bootcamp was written for Windows XP and everyone (Forumers) said Bootcamp will work best with Windows XP even after Vista came out. I've read Bootcamp 1.2 was released so that all the Apple hardware components would work with Vista (AKA driver updates).

Now since bootcamp 3.0 is out; Will it be worth while to upgrade to windows 7? In other terms, will Seven give me better battery power opposed to bootcamping in XP? Whether it's facts or speculation; Is Bootcamp 3.0 set better to work with windows 7? OR is is like the Bootcamp 1.2; Did Apple release 3.0 so that apple hardware will be compatible with Windows Seven (driver updates)? and I do know the final version of seven isn't out but I don't think it will differ much from the release candidate kernal (correct me if I am wrong). Thanks and sorry if my wording confuses you, been working all day.

Ah ok, I might actually test this out. So what should the testing criteria be?

    1) Battery Life

    2) .. really what else is there?

Am currently using SL with Win 7 bootcamp. Touchpad is still way way too sensitive and double clicks so easily. Display control are better and in Win 7 the audio out for speakers/headphones actually works now. Internal volume is no louder however, being about half of that in osx.

Apart from that..... Heat issues seem to be better now, fans kick in earlier, my macbook didn't get no where near as hot as usual under windows.

Anyone got anything else for me to report back on, let me know.

Is BootCamp 3.0 ONLY available in Snow Leopard?

I don't see any "Software Update" in my Leopard 10.5.6 about BootCamp 3.0.

Battery life is certainly better, but I concur with the trackpad still being too sensitive. I don't understand why they don't just give us the ability to set the sensitivity. I am also finding it runs cooler even cooler than XP.

I'll just be glad when Win 7 comes out so I can get my Windows 7 setup once and for all because for me it's a keeper!

I know when I used win 7 beta I could set my external monitor as the main one and still have my laptop monitor on. I can't do that with XP.

You won't, because Boot Camp is simply a partitioning tool (which probably doesn't need much of an "update") and Windows drivers. The drivers would be on the Snow Leopard DVD.

Best case, much like Boot Camp 2.1, Apple will issue a downloadable update with the drivers. For at least some of the components, like graphics and audio, as well as chipset, there are more up-to-date drivers available from the manufacturers anyway.
