    Hey guys,

I'm currently running Windows Vista on my 2.4GHz MBP, but I'm thinking of putting in the ole XP. Does bootcamp provide proper drivers for the video card and all other stuff for XP or only for Vista?

If it doesn't provide the video drivers for the 256mb 8600M GT, where can I find the newest/latest/best ones?

    Much appreciated, cheers!

it provides all the drivers for both xp and vista, but only the 32 bit versions of each.

im pretty sure you dont have xp64. assuming that is true, you will be just fine.

edit: do NOT use the video card driver from laptopvideo2go.com

it will render your system unusable (only the windows part - you can simply reinstall windows). no joke. i just tried it earlier today. stick with the apple drivers for the time being.

I have tried to update my partition of XP with the latest drivers but to no avail. I have only found 1 game that didn't work on it (Dawn of War) so it shouldn't be too bad and it still gets great FPS in games (see base stats in the the Overclocking Benchmarks)

Unlike Masterchef341 said though, I was able to recover from the bad driver install by using Parallels to do a System Restore so if you have Parallels installed, you can try but I can assure you that it won't work.

    Hope This Helps.

Chef, thanks, I'll install XP today and report back with details, and yes, I have the 32bit version, so I should be just fine and dandy.

So I figure the XP Pro on your sig, you got it to work just fine with the drivers that come with bootcamp 1.3, and play games and all that, right?

Thanks LightofHonor for your input as well, I won't try to update any drivers if the apple ones are pretty okay for the time being, untill either nvidia or bootcamp actually gets updated.

    Cheers!
