Here's just an observation from many Windows users switching to Mac or even long time users/supporters of Mac.

Many of those who order Apple with the Mac OS use Bootcamp to install Windows. Why do they choose to purchase a notebook with premium prices and similar hardware found in Windows-based notebooks with the same specifications? Now I see with the new MBP, the hardware included are amazing, but the price tag is too expensive where I can purchase from a Windows-based notebook from other vendors.

So, my question is, shouldn't you purchase an Apple desktop/notebook because of it's Mac OS rather than buying it to merely install Windows?

This post is not meant to offend anyone or your decisions to purchase an Apple!

    i agree with this

i have ordered my first mac/laptop ever (mbp!). although i will most likely use boot camp at some point, it is not because of windows, it is so i can play some games that are not put out for macs

my reasons for the switch from my dell desktop to a mbp are:
    1. need laptop for college
    2. mbps are amazing
    3. i'm bored with windows
    4. mac osx is something new, and something that i see myself loving

granted, mbps are the best looking laptops i have ever seen, if i wanted to run windows, i think i would rather pay less for a great pc than pay more for a great mac, plus the cost of windows (windows xp is $190!!!, more expensive than windows vista home basic!!!!, another reason why i am doubting whether i will even use boot camp)

    just my opinion though

I definitely agree Apple make very nice computers, both physically appealing and excellent performance. Unfortunately, I did not purchase an Apple MBP because of both the price and incompatibility with most of the programs I plan on using (which are Windows-based). Also, I did not want to spend another $200 on Windows Vista Home Premium or Windows XP Professional on top of the price I paid for my notebook.

The things is that Apple products work better overall than most PC counterparts. Search around and you'll find all kinds of discussions on how apple has tested to make sure all the parts work 100% with each other before they implement them. Apple never lets a crummy product through their doors(maybe with the exception of the Mighty Mouse and the fraying on the mag-safe adapter).

When compared to business class, and higher quality notebooks you actually end up paying less for the MBP than the competition. Take a look at a Satellite or Vaio or HP business or Dell business laptop, they fetch a good premium because of build quality, as do the macbooks. Granted I think the regular macbooks are a bit overpriced, the MBPs are spot on.

Plus you get awesome Apple support(people who speak English when you call in is great)!

    are newegg/zipzoomfly reliable websites?

    also:
"Disclaimer: Qualifying proof of purchase must be recent receipts showing the purchase of a mother board, hard drive, RAM and a CPU."

how do i prove this? can i send in my receipt from my purchase of my mbp from my school's computer store, or did i need to buy the computer from newegg/zipzoomfly?

Don't the newer MBP's have generally more battery life than other vendor's laptops? From what i can remember, competitors laptops do not last too long on battery life, but i can be wrong, haven't looked into it lately

Newegg and ZipZoomFly are both reliable websites. I usually order from Newegg for their fast shipping, but I have to pay tax and S&H charges, whereas I don't have to pay neither tax nor shipping (if free shipping is available) from ZipZoomFly.

Well, since you Apple users put the MBP in such high regards, you made me want to purchase one! Unfortunately, I already purchased an HP laptop earlier this month.

Last I checked Newegg had an excellent rating on

    www.resellerratings.com

I've bought from them and had no problems.
