Hi everyone. I'm having an issue with Boot Camp, wondering if any of you experienced it and have a fix.

I have a stock base model MBP Alum.

Vista was running fine on Boot Camp since I got the machine back in January, but today it crashed. When I tried to reboot into Vista I got two '_' cursor flashes on the top left of the screen then the screen just goes dark. Multiple reboots yielded the same result.

Seeing I had my files backed up, I just deleted the Vista partition and tried to perform a reinstall of Vista. However, after I click 'Start Installation' in Boot Camp and the comp restarts - I get the two cursor flashes followed by the black screen again.

Anyone have ideas why this might be?

    Thanks in advance.

So this is happening after you used Boot Camp to erase the previous Windows partition, and then used Boot Camp to repartition your HD and install Vista from scratch? That would be very strange and might be worth an Apple store visit.

Yes. I can get as far as making a new partition with Boot Camp, but once the MBP restarts and tries to boot with the Vista CD, I get stuck...

I guess I'll give the Apple Store a shot this weekend and see if that Apple Care will do any good.

In the mean time, I'd appreciate an other idea to solve this problem!

have any different bootable media to try? Have you tried getting it set up in boot camp then not telling boot camp to restart and start install? Just start up the computer and when you hear the chime hold down the Option button until a boot menu comes up... wait for it to detect everything (spinning up the CD mainly) and see if it recognizes and gives Windows disc as a bootable option. You can boot it that way and start the install if you wanted.

I have my MBP triple booted, but I didnt use Bootcamp to do it, so not sure... i just manually set up the partitions and use rEFIt to manage my booting...

It could mean you have a scratched or dirty Vista DVD. have you tried cleaning your DVD? I had this issue before and used my friends Vista x64 DVD and used my serial when setting up Vista x64 via BC.
