So having installed Snow Leopard I was wondering how to install the new Boot Camp drivers onto my Boot Camp partition (which I created under Leopard). Is it as simple as just inserting the Snow Leopard disk when I am in Windows XP? Or do I have to get involved with the Device Manager?
-
It should be pretty simple. Just insert the SL disc and install the updated drivers.

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Yes, it is easy.
Just boot into Windows, insert the SL disc, and run the EXE file that pops up. BootCamp 3 drivers automatically install, you don't need Device Manager or anything else - although it seemed to take a LOT longer to do them this time than when I did 2.0 in the Spring after installing W7 RC. Still, eventually it finished and all was well. -
Should you uninstall the 2.0 version first ?
-
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
The 3.0 update does everything for you automatically. -
ClearSkies, what is your experience, using bootcamp3? is the trackpad issue resoled? does it still freeze? what about battery life?

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Luke:
See my response in another thread here.
Simply - Yes, Not yet, and haven't started up W7 with a full charge as yet to know.
I don't expect BC3.0 to do any worse than its predecessor, which was already acceptable to me since my Windows needs are somewhat occasional and straightforward, it's undervolted, and I'm only running a 20GB partition with a couple of softwares on it. -
Luke, you've been asking about BC3.0 a lot. The general overview of it is there isnt any radical changes, at least none that I was looking for i.e switching between dedicated and intergrated graphics cards, or better battery life, or warmth. Its pretty much the same except just having a smoother trackpad and fans being a little bit more responsive to heat.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but can you download Boot Camp 3.0 drivers separately or get it through Apple Software Updates?
-
sorry for the late reply but better late than never...you cannot download bootcamp 3.0. you need to buy snow leopard ti get it. it is not available via software update.
@D3X & MKang25: i've finally gotten my hands in snow leopard....it's a little improved over bootcamp 2.1..my temps are now in the low-mid 60's while on a table...on the bed,,,well it's a different story.....i've had a crash till date, i don't know what caused it...all drivers are working pretty fine.. the trackpad is still veeeery sensitive although i heard that it is supposed to be better...battery life is nearly the same for me.....2hrs of battery life with balanced power options....i doubt it will be greatly be improved using the power saver mode...i can now see a real time fan speed using hardware monitor pro...but as it's a trial, sometimes, not all values are displayed....i certainly hope we'll be able to see gpu switching in the near future...i'm currently looking for a software which will enable me to underclock my gpu speeds to that of an intel x4500 as i no longer game....i'm bad at undervolting, so that's a no go for me....i've not tried safari but while surfing on ie, the page seems to scroll quickly with a slow scrolling down.... -
2)Undervolting GPU wouldn't reduce much temperature tried it on 9100M G. -
I have been debating between Boot Camp and Parallels for my Macbook Pro. For those here that did install Boot Camp 3.0, is anyone here able to view any wireless D-link IP cameras using their Macbook that is either running XP, Vista or Windows 7??
-
@Weinter: any link would greatly be appreciated. thanks...

Bootcamp doesn't add any cost, and VMware (and Parallels) can run the Bootcamp install inside a virtual machine.... so install Windows via Bootcamp, then install VMware and have it boot up your Bootcamp partition... you can use all your apps in OSX, and if you run into one that doesn't function good enough, then reboot into Windows and run it...
