I've got a brand-spanking new 15.4" 2.4GHz MacBook Pro. With the glossy screen if you care to know. Pretty f-ing sweet by the way.

I followed Apple's Boot Camp Public Beta (version 1.3) guide to a T. Like the title says, I chose to install Vista Ultimate x86 (32-Bit).

I can get into both Vista and OSX, but when I boot Vista there are several issues:

    1) When starting up there are several text messages on the black boot screen. "Booting GRLDR ... Warning: Unrecognized partition table for drive 80. Please rebuild it using a Microsoft-compatible FDISK tool (err=4). Current C/H/S=266305/255/63." It says a lot more in the ... part, but I couldn't write that fast and I don't want to keep rebooting unless someone thinks it will help to have the complete message.

    2) Windows Experience Index fails. "Cannot complete the requested formal assessment. Formal assessments cannot be run when the system is on battery power. Please try again when the system is running on AC power." My computer is actually plugged into the AC adapter during this, so I'm not sure what this indicates.

These are the main issues I've noticed so far. The only relevant suggestion I found in Apple's support section is to reinstall/repair Boot Camp. I tried this once with no luck.

Anyone have similar problems? Your input is always appreciated!

My new MacBook Pro is on order, so no experience with Bootcamp on it yet. I've done a bit of research, and the main problem seems to be related to drivers. I have seen some folks say they've made it work, so probably worth some googling.

I'm sticking with XP for my dual boot mode for now.

Did you do all of the Software Updates/Hardware Updates...?

I would start by doing that..

Secondly delete the Windows Partition..through Boot Camp..

    Burn New Drivers Cd..

    Install Vista Etc Etc..

Bdw Macz work better with Vista than Xp ;)!

    Best Regards,
    Dannnnnnnnnyyyy

That was with Boot Camp 1.2, today Apple updated to 1.3. This is the version I am using/having issues with.

I followed Apple's guide to a T (the 28 page Boot Camp PDF guide). I updated everything first, as instructed in the guide. As a last resort I will completely reinstall, but any other solutions would be better!

    1) I've been receiving the same messages, but there is no noticeable effect in Vista, so I'm ignoring this.

    2) Vista never seems to recognize that the AC is plugged in on start up. Simply remove the cable and plug it back in once Vista is loaded. As with #1, this is just a minor annoyance.

    stgben,

Thanks for the reply. It's good to know someone else has the same problems. Thanks for the solution to the AC issue and yeah these are minor inconveniences (annoying boot messages, cannot change default OS in Vista via Control Panel --> Startup Disk). I'm not too worried. Hopefully they will be fixed though.

    Also, nice benchmark thread!

    Peace.

Thanks macomania for the fix. Let me just be a bit more specific for everyone else though. You can download EasyBCD 1.6 here. Install, run, click the "Manage Bootloader" tab and then under "Bootloader Installation Options" make sure "Reinstall the Vista Bootloader" is selected and finally click the "Write MBR" button. Instantly done.

When you restart there are no more annoying boot messages and there is now a brightness control!
