Guys, need more help in deciding what to buy.

I am looking for a Bluetooth mouse for my MBP.

There is Apple Magic Mouse, but I am still not sure on its ease and usability. Even though I need it for my notebook I dont want the very small notebook mice, since I will be attaching my MBP to external monitor most of the times, a desktop Bluetooth mouse would be preferred.

    Any recommendations ?

    Thanks again :)

I'm in the same boat as you. Been researching a bit and it looks like the Razer Orochi might be the best choice, although a pricey one. Looks great and the buttons can be mapped for OSX.

    Free advice:

In my experiance (handful of travel size bluetooth mice and a logitech desktop bluetooth) OSX has horrible drivers for the mice (even if you download the latest, it still fails horribly compared to windows).

A prime example is the back button on one of my mice does do anything and their is no way to change that.

Theres a few out there, but I'd suggest going into an apple store and trying out the magic mouse for a bit.
I used to use a Razer pro click mobile bluetooth mouse, had a few problems with it, but razer always is willing to replace them. Though I'd still recommend it, as its pretty small and works well.

what this guy said. I dont have big hands as others but the Magic Mouse does feel small in my hands. Nevertheless, I love & would recommend it to anyone.

If you want native support it has to be the Magic Mouse or one of the Logitech BT mice. If you want to use any other BT mouse (i.e. the Razer Orochi) you will need to get Steermouse ($20) to go with it in order to change the buttons.

That being said I LOVE my Orochi. Best laptop mouse I have ever used (although I haven't used the new Logitech Anywhere MX mouse, but that's not BT anyway).

I just got the Magic Mouse over the weekend and used it out of town and I really like it.
Once I got used to it I realized it is the best I have used yet with a Mac.
    What are you worried about?
I have large hands but notice no size issues with this mouse?

Oh, so the Mac software that you can download from the Razer site doesn't map the buttons? Wow, that's lame.

I have a Logitech Travel Mouse at home and another one in the office. I have been very pleased with them. My wife uses a Microsoft Notebook Bluetooth 5000. She likes it, although I find she has to change the batteries more frequently than I do.

I'd guess the orochi doesnt have mac configurator. My deathadder was specifically for mac, but I think the pc version would probably work as well, as its just the program that you dl that let you customize it.

The difference between the two is the following. If you want to change mouse button 5 to press "enter",
-Steermouse acts as a mouse driver, telling the pc that mouse 5 is "enter"
-the razer software actually changes the onboard memory, which actually makes that key "enter"

steermouse only works on one pc, razer changes the mouse itself, and any pc its connected to it will do that action.

Again, Razer released their config program for the mac for the deathadder(As it is officially marketed towards mac users). I guess they didnt do that for the orochi? youd have to look into that.

That's interesting to note, seeing as how I was just about to buy an orochi/kabuto combo for my mbp.
I'm curious if you can program the settings in Windows and since its saved to the mouse if it will transfer over to osx.

    Yes, and Yes.
IIRC you can even do it in a vmware session.

I tried Bluetooth mice for several years and gave up on them last summer. I'm using a Microsoft Arc Mouse. Most of the mouse is in the shape of an arc and part of it folds into itself making for a very small traveling device. It uses a USB receiver on the computer. It's also a laser mouse and works on surfaces that other mice don't work on like a glossy black table. The responsiveness and precision are better than anything else that I've tried.

I vote for Magic Mouse. I'll admit it may not be a good fit for everyone (especially if you have larger than avg hands), but it's definitely worth a try if you have a local Apple store.

I've always used Logitech mice, currently use an MX Revolution at work and a VX Revolution for my PC laptops...the Magic Mouse is a fairly easy transition IMHO.

I second/third the magic mouse. I wear size 9/9.5 gloves (for those who don't know, those are really large hands), and I love the magic mouse. It may be "feel" a little small in my palms, but that doesn't take away from the usability or function of the mouse. Give it a try in an Apple store or best buy before you vote it off your list.

When I was at the Apple store last weekend having the screen on my iPhone replaced, I tried out the Magic Mouse, as I was in the market for a mouse for my 13.3 MBP, but thought it was a little "flat," if that make sense. I am not a big guy by any means (6'/165 lbs), but thought that it was a bit awkward to hold. My roommate bought me a $15 (on sale) Logitech V450 laser mouse that I'm using right now. I love that it fills my hand a bit better than the Magic Mouse, though the USB receiver isn't the world's best (nor is it the smallest).

The Magic Mouse is pretty pricey, too, at $70 US.

Prior to this, I used a BT Logitech V270 which I adored, sadly I lost it when I sold my T60 for the Mac.

I have a friend that bought one at the new local Apple Store. His only complaint is that it is a little short. He'd prefer that it was a little taller. He also didn't like the absence of the middle-mouse button but he installed a patch which uses a three-finger tap to be equal to the middle-mouse button.
