Alright so I have the new Bluetooth Mighty Mouse today.

    My initial thoughts.

Appears to be constructed very well, has a sliding cap door for the laser (this turns it on or off) and has been constructed with 2 buttons within the shell, this is a change from the wired mighty mouse which only has one. It also has buttons on both sides that you squeeze to activate expose and a ball that can scrool in any direction.

First off I read a lot about the software that comes with the mouse is bad and causes lag among other issues, and the mouse does work off the bat but does not contain controls for changing its settings. Instead I went to Apples download and found SteerMouse which is a 3rd party driver for Apple and works with the BT Mighty Mouse. It works wonderfully with this driver and no lag at all. It will take me some getting used to it as I'm coming from a 14 button mouse to a 4 button mouse.

Tracking is great as well. As well as having new Laser technology (its not so new but also not that common yet in mice)

Any questions please ask and I'll answer them to the best I can.

    Cost: $69.99

I have had it for a week now. The software that came with the mouse works fine - I haven't come across any lag.

    Two complaints about the mouse

    - You have to lift your index finger to right click
    - The side squeeze buttons (which I set to dashboard) is hard to squeeze.

I agree the squeeze could be changed a little bit, I use my middle and index finger on a mouse and my middle for the right click so i have no problem there.

What version is the drivers you have? supposely there is v1.0 and v1.2?

Is it good for graphic design? (photoshop)
How long can you use it without charging?

OMG so the Bluetooth mightymouse is like a normal windows mouse with two buttons and the wired one has only one? I don't even use my mightymouse because I can't go over my units in my games so they can move =/ . Can we return it opened and get the same amount we paid?

Cause Apple was silly enough not to put a 2nd button it...

I mean... really, it's 2006. the apple+click doesn't cut it and and i hate tapping on the trackpad.

whoa. And I thought I was excessive with my old school logitech trackball with all it's buttonality.

this is sort of a hijack: do you know how to program "hot spots" for Firefox on the MBP touchpad? On my last laptop, I had back and forward programmed to the top two corners of my trackpad.

A trackpad is OK for normal light average every day use... but if you do a lot of photo editing, spreadsheets, etc. - basically anything with a TON of repetitive scrolling motion, the trackpad gets old FAST. It's nicer and easier on your hand and wrist to use a mouse.

But you don't technically *need* a mouse when you have a trackpad. It just makes some tasks phenomenally easier.

It really depends on where I am weather or not I pull out my BT Mighty Mouse. If I'm at home I'll just use the trackpad, and don't get me wrong I absolutely love Macbooks trackpad, but when I'm at school and at a desk, I'll put it out for use, plus the little ball is awesome on it. Thing is you gotta keep it clean.

GeorgineVJ, I don't think the trackpad has hot spots as far as to my knowledge, I do know that the screen has hot corners that you can use to activated things. Such as if I move my mouse to the bottom right corner Expose activates, to my left bottom corner I have All windows activate. It's probably not what your looking for but its a nice thing.

Yes, the scrolling with the ball is much more enjoyable to use then a scroll wheel. I didn't spend 70 dollars because of that, I spend it because I wanted a totally wireless laptop and all I really have to do is just plug in the power cord.

You know how ridiculous it looks when you see someone pull out a notebook and then a bunch of cords, you might as well bring the whole dang desktop with you. ;) Plus I'm coming from an MX1000 Logitech (it was also 69.99. I really prefer high end mouse because they really do make the difference, plus after using Laser for so long now (MX1000 is laser) the precision on opticals really suck.

As for the battery question: I talked to the guy at the store and he said as long as you remember to turn it off when your not using it the battery should last 1-2 months on one charge. It does not have rechargeable li-ion battery, just normal ones. I use high end rechargable batteries anyways so its no problem for me.

I refuse to buy an Apple mouse until they, one, make two REAL buttons, and, two, make it more ergonomic.

Is the mouse available in Canada yet? Been looking around the usual places and yet to see one on store shelves here in Vancouver.

    Archimago,

First off the Mighty mouse BT is under very large demand!

Currently all Apple resellers and Apple Stores can only get 3 of them right now, I placed an order at mine early so I got one of the three that my place got, within the coming weeks there should be more coming. Apparently the BT mighty mouse is also hugely popular right now.

Anyways for those interested, I removed the driver that I downloaded because it was kind of a bad driver, and I noticed the driver on the CD v1.2 was updated, so I installed it and it works great now.

P.S. The guys at the store said the Macbooks are selling 'EXTREMELY WELL' and that Apple 'Hit the nail on the head with this one'. No they weren't trying to sell me one, I'm just a big customer of theirs :)
