I got the blue of death in VMware fusion with windows vista ultimate,I think "Defender" did it, every time I go to the vmware to start windows the blue screen shows up, anyway around this ? I can't do any safe modes or last good configs.

I had that happen. Try bootcamp if you haven't but it will probably BSOD too. Re-install windows is what I did. Good thing I only used it for gaming :D

I haven't did anything yet! I thought I'd throw it out there and see what everyone else does with this problem, I'll try reinstalling tomorrow, I've only had a couple of windows base software installed under vmware nothing really lost, windows defender this this!

    Thanks!

Post up the error code of the BSOD. 99% of the time, it's the result of poorly written drivers or virus, not the OS itself.

What jack said. It may be possible to recover the situation.

Remember that Boot Camp isn't proper Windows in effect - it is less stable than a comparable 'genuine' Windows laptop - and that VMWare can also trip up at times, and there are also attendant driver issues. At least in VMware/Parallels you can take a copy of the VM - which is what I do on a 'complete install', just in case. Virtualisation has been far more stable for me than BC, but it is possible for deal-killers to crop up.
