It seems like my macbook pro has been taking longer to boot so I looked up some information and found people saying that it is not normal to see a blue screen during startup  I have always seen a blue screen after the initial apple logo screen but now it seems to hang there longer. So is it normal to see this blue screen? Thanks!

have you done anything to the computer recently? installed leopard, etc.?

and what machine are you using? you should see a Blue Screen right after the first apple logo, but it shouldn't take longer than 10 seconds or so, if you have recently installed some new hardware, etc. it may take a little longer as the computer recognizes it.

how long is it hanging on the blue screen?

I would say that it takes about 12 seconds on the blue screen (seems like it goes light blue for about 10 and a darker blue for about 2 or 3). Total boot up time was about 45 seconds..

The computer is the base model Macbook Pro 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB of SDRAM and 128MB video card

that seems pretty normal to me, mine boots up to the login screen in about 30 secons give or take a few, that is after restarting multiple times from the login screen, and then starting up again from shutdown.

    i wouldn't worry about a 12 second wait though.

I remember reading about a shortcut combination that people hold down during boot that fixes some things that might be wrong and speed up the computer. Do you know what that is?

Maybe you're thinking of Resetting the PRAM?

The "blue screen" is normal, usually. I see it for about 3 seconds during startup. However, there is a conflict with Leopard and Application Enhancer that does cause an abnormal blue screen.

yeah, that usually causes it too not boot up at all, and just stick on the blue screen, I HAVE seen that happen.

Yup, I see it too, for about 8-10 seconds.

    Pretty normal I'd say..

The blue screen seems to be normal now, as I was just noticing today how long it seems to reboot.

At first rebooting wasn't that much of a chore, but now that I know it'll take a little longer to reboot now I try to avoid it. *laughs*

Maybe they'll fix it with the next update.

I get the blue screen too which goes into a darker blue screen, then my wallpaper loads. So I'd say it's normal. still starts up very fast. Much faster than vista anyway...

Just restarted from XP (bootcamp) and didn't get the blue screen, it just went into my wallpaper right after the grey apple logo.

    I guess it's pretty random?
