" DVD player has been able to play HD-DVDs for a long time. It has blu-ray and HD-DVD settings in prefs now."
I was just cruising the macrumors.com site and saw this, apparently it's true. Has anyone had experience? The optical drive can read both??

Ummm, they haven't even released dual-format drives for any platform yet...notebook, desktop, standalone players, anything.
So I guess that is a rumor...that is not true. -
as i am reading i think the drive included can read HD-DVD but there are blu-ray settings, maybe for an external drive?
[edit] actually i seriously have no idea what i'm talking about. anyone? -
They might be talking about HDCP, so that HD formats will work?

Is it something like that you're talking about? -
it had something to do with the software being capable with both or something, but now i'm really not sure
-
Well it might be that they added and it could be an option down the line.
-
Software wouldn't have that type of option for the two, as far as I know.
It's the hardware that comes down to it. The type of laser and such.
Blu-ray and HD-DVD
