Hey im planning on getting a macbook in black whenever dell gives me my money back. Anyway wondering how badly the black macbook scratches, is it really easy to scratch? I dont it gets finger prints really easily.

It has a sort of matte black coating on it, so yeah, if you really went out of your way to scratch it, you could get some scratches.
It's best to keep it in a case, etc. for protection, and just show some basic care when using it (i.e. don't use a pile of rocks as a laptop stand), and you should generally be fine.
If you are really concerned about it, there are a number of hard case shell options like the Speck SeeThru that fit over it and will basically protect it from any scratches and other typical damage.

My hands aren't really what you would call oily but my black MacBook smudges up so incredibly easily. Maybe I'm just obsessive compulsive but I spend the majority of my time wiping clean my MacBook. I can't stand smudges. I don't have any scratches on mine but I've always kept it in a laptop bag.

White ones are better IMO.
