    Hi

I read that there's usually some kind of discount on Black Friday.

Is the MBP going to be discounted? Can the discount be used on top of the education discount?

    Thanks

I got the impression that Apple never did discounts/coupons like that. You may be able to find a deal on Black Friday from a reseller though.

Apple sets all their prices, including the ones for resellers. I don't believe they're into the Black Friday thing.

Not always. MacMall always sells Macs cheaper than Apple does ($1850 for 2.2 GHz MBP, compared to $1999 at Apple). Although worth noting that there have been many complaints about MacMall, so not necessarily the best option to go for, even though they sell Macs cheaper than Apple does.

I don't believe Apple itself does any sales. It only occasionally slashes prices, and that's a definite price drop and will stay that price, and not really a "promotion", where its say 10% off for a week or two, and then goes back to original price. For example, the iPhone price was dropped to $399 instead of $599.

Try third-party resellers to see if they will do Black Friday sales. Some of them do (like Future Shop does randomly sell Macs about $50-100 cheaper as a promotion. Future Shop is a Canadian big box electronics retailer similar to (and owned by) Best Buy).

Apple does not do sales. What you see is what you get, sorry.

There is a store called Fry's Electronics which is selling all the new iPods for $10 cheaper than Apple does. I have seen that they sell the Mac computers for somewhat of a cheaper price than Apple. Maybe $50 cheaper or something around the holiday season...but they also bundle stuff with it like a free cheap printer which could suffice for your black-and-white printing needs.

Still a killer deal. Been holding out on buying a mac ATM but I do want one and that deal would've "sealed the deal" as they say.

Depends where you are, Jarson. Like here in Canada, we don't celebrate any form of Black Friday; instead, the day where everything is discounted (not just electronics...anything) is Boxing Day (Dec. 26th). I remember getting Age of Empires III two years back for $30 at Boxing Day. Normally it was priced at $60 at that time.

Yeah, that is a really good deal. Plus, its not like 1.83 GHz Core 2 Duo is that slow. You probably wouldn't notice much difference during everyday tasks.
