Hello.
I just received my new 2.4GHz unibody Macbook and it's amazing.
Now I want to make sure it looks good forever.
I can't decide what's better:
- The Incase Neoprene sleeve:

or
- Speck 13-inch SeeThru Satin Case for Aluminum MacBook:

Also, when I travel I'll be using a North Face Surge backpack:

So, what do you think?
Thanks in advance for the help.

I like the hardshell case and a good backpack rather than sleeve.
because the hardshell case also prevent the system from scratches when they are not in the backpack, and pus that you dont have to buy invishible shield for that -
Aside from physical protection of the machine itself, you may want to consider protection of your data. I highly recommend PGP Whole Disk Encryption (WDE) if you are going to travel with your Macbook.

you need to pack your notebook in a specially design, padded bag for notebook.
make sure it is heavily padded, scratches is the last of your worries if your notebook is dented, and its component get crushed.
if your backpack is padded, and want additional protection, why not both? get the incase seethrough satin case, and the neopreen sleeve, for the ultimate protection. -

I have the clear Speck hard case and its great. I also put it in this Init case and then in a backpack.

I personally like the Shinza Zeroshock memory foam sleeves. I use a radtech sleevz in addition to the Shinza Zeroshock and it offers great protection!

I recently got the Speck See Thru hard shell and i really like it. No more worries about dirty tables or scratches...from anything. There is also no differnce in heat.
i got the clear one and so it's not that noticeable. I carry it inside a padded backpack. Backpack to prevent dents, hard case to prevent scratches. -
Thanks for the suggestions!
I got the Incase neoprene sleeve, but maybe I should spring for a hard case as well. I want this machine to look mint for as long as possible. -
But I would recommend buying a padded backpack or hardshell case to put the incase with the MB in it!
There are so many thing you want to bring with if you travel alot... cant even start thinking but if you need anything advice or questions about anything you want/need about travelling ask -
i have noticed that the upper end of my mac is not protected in my padded backpack...Perhaps i should be getting a notebook sleeve also. The hardshell case is also a good idea!!

That neoprene Incase sleeve is really nice. The interior is lined with a soft material that keeps the MB from being scratched.
From my experience hard shell case easily scratch the exterior of the MB due to debris being lodged between the hard shell and the case. -
Another thing to note is that for 3 months, before I got my Speck case, I used the padded laptop component in my backpack. I have noticed that on the edges of the MBP the finish started to wear off a little bit. I reckon it's because the backpack compartment is not soft, but you should still be careful and make sure your backpack won't cause any abrasions, hence why I got the hard case. SLeeve + backpack is too much in my opinion.
I've seen some people put their Macbooks into those large heavy duty ziplock bags and put that into their backpacks lol. Cheap and effective. -
I have the incase neoprene sleeve, it's very nice. When I went on my trip, I had that tucked inside the incase messenger bag, which was itself padded, so it was even more protected.

best protection is to leave it home when traveling
i have invisible shield and besides protecting stretches outside it also has a screen on the palm rest that makes it really worthwhile(much, much better than malware's variant)
besides that i might consider a padded backpack and that should be good enough. i seem to have more trouble with notebook sleeves than not having it myself...
data encryption is also a plus. -
Invisible shield eh?! Innnteresting. Gonna have to look into that.
But it looks like, failing that, I might have to get the Speck hard shell case and see if I like it.
So far the neoprene sleeve is amazing, but once the notebook is removed from it, it's vulnerable, and that's no good.
I must have complete protection! -
I don't like the invisialbe shield. YOu need to spray on lots of liquid and it's a pain in the butt to remove and reaaply when you feel like it.

the total time required to apply all the bit and pieces to the macbook pro was less than 30minutes. the excess liquid simply squeezed off to the end and absorbed by tissue paper; there were some round corners that took a little longer but in general it was trouble free.
in the end i had around 3(<1mm) bubbles on the top but i was too lazy to redo it over. the two changes i like after the application was the palm rest which again is lightyears better than malware, and the added friction to desk surface as sometimes aluminum tends to be move around on inclined surface.
i would consider a sleeves if i ever bought a backpack/messengerbag without a dedicated slot for notebook. -

Currently I'm using a good ol' Timbuk 2 messenger bag. It has ample padding, plus they can hold the entire universe and then some. I'm always amazed at how much I can fit in that bag
-
I just pulled the trigger on a neoprene sleeve to be used in combo with my laptop backpack.

It has been shipped. I still haven't got it yet. When i get it, will post a review. Be sure to check the "accessories" thread from time to time.
