I dunno... a lot of classes I take they let us download the PowerPoints they will use in class, so i add notes in the notes field in there... and I never had a problem just taking notes in Word or Pages or anything else. Can make bullet lists, highlight colors, whatever all really fast. I haven't ever seen the use of a note taking application... what do they do so special?

Try OneNote and you'll see. Since I 'discovered' that program after years of not taking it on, I cannot go back to another word processor for taking down quick or important notes.

if I can find some free way to try it I will, is there a trial somewhere?

it looks like most all of the features work ok using Wine/Crossover so even better...

if you have OneNote and wanna try it in a free trial of Crossover, that might be a way to go, but I don't really know how well it runs since I haven't done it myself, but Office 2007 is a supported Crossover application... and OneNote is reported to be mostly working by users

EDIT: nevermind, i found the free 60 day trial on MSes website.

I installed the free trial of OneNote in Crossover 8 ... I don't know the software well enough to do extensive testing, but things I'd assume I should be able to drag and drop into it likepictures or whatever dont work... but most all the functions seem to work. Sound recording might need more looking into, it keeps saying i need DX8+ and WMP8+ installed to use it, and I have DX9 and WMP10 installed and working on the same bottle I was running OneNote in...

depending what features you want to use, you may want to find something else than using OneNote under Crossover/Wine.. but best to try it out for yourself.

I recommended Circus Ponies Notebook on my previous post. Is there a good reason why the OP is ignoring this and why other forum members are recommending a less than convenient solution by using One Note and Crossover? Circus Ponies Notebook is an excellent note taking software for Mac OS.

I don't see a post by you in the thread, maybe you were thinking of another thread, but I wasn't making any recommendation, just discussing.

If Circus Ponies is great.. and works for the OP, thats fantastic.

Thank you for pointing that out. I got this mixed up with another thread. Sorry about that. ;) . Someone else was asking about notetaking software for Mac OS.
Well, for this thread I still recommend Circus Ponies Notebook. Best of Show at Macworld. www.circusponies.com

I use Google Docs. But, you need to be connected to the Internet for that. Unless there is a Google Gears option.

Try running Microsoft One note in vmware fusion or parallel in Windows OS. That'll probably solve all the problems if you're using crossover.
