istat use to show the battery health as 97% but now its gone to 79% since i installed snow leopard, how can this happen??
also i tried to reset the SMC, but i have dont know it it worked as there was no beep or picture afterwards.
I held shift, ctrl, alt and the on button at the same time.

also i noticed since i installed snow leopard my battery life has drastically decreased.
on a full charge, 2 lowest brightness, no backlight, no programs running, power saver graphics i get 3hr which is a joke as just yesterday i was get 5hr at mid brightness, internet surfing and music. -
it also says service battery now
-
where does it says "service battery now"?
try to uninstall istats and its component in that claws into the kernel.
try re-calibrate the battery by using it until it is very low (like 5%-10%), turn off; then recharge it until it is full, and leave it there for 2 hour or so, before u start using your notebook again. -
in the top right on the mac battery meter is says service battery. it happened sice i installed snow leopard although its a new feature in snow leopard, i use to get 5hr30min battery and now i get nothing over 3hr no matter which settings im on.
