Had my Macbook Pro 2 years now, and the battery is done. It says its charged, but 15 minutes of use it just shuts down. How much are the batteries? Where is the best place to buy them?

Apple Care does NOT cover batteries which die from normal use.

    http://www.apple.com/batteries/replacements.html

You can extend your replacement coverage for a defective battery to three years from the date of your notebook purchase with the AppleCare Protection Plan. However, the AppleCare Protection Plan for notebook computers does not cover batteries that have failed or are exhibiting diminished capacity except when the failure or diminished capacity is the result of a manufacturing defect.

did you read err... a word called except there? AMDGamer's has a battery that's only giving 15 mins of usage time ... if he's used quite a bit below 300 cycles of the battery ... then he's definitely due a shot at a replacement... at the very least a conversation with Apple Customer Care.
Apple clearly states in one of their support documents that the capacity at the end of 300 cycles should be about 80% of the original capacity (or thereabouts .. i don't recall the exact value... i'm sure there are threads in this forum that have the value).... and considering AMDGamer has used the computer for 2 years... he'ld pretty much have to be using his battery once every two days to bring it to 300 cycles ... which feels to ME to be probably unlikely - hence my advice would be to atleast contact customer care incase he/she has apple care. Ofcourse... this under the assumption that he has used his battery under normal conditions and not blow torched it....
just giving a little perspective that you might have zealously overlooked.

Assumptions get people in trouble, and I was simply stating the facts without any consideration of "perspective". Thank you for zealously not realizing this.

unless Apple knows there was a defect, if the battery is over a year old, it doesn't mater how much you used it or how many cycles it has... its not supposed to be covered. Sometimes you can find an employee at a store who will cover it, but good luck with that.

I may give a call. It's unusual to be this done after 2 years. It may be defective because it says its charged, but then after 15 minutes the indicator shows charge but then it shuts down. I have to plug it in to start it up. Going to call apple since I have applecare

That's not defective, that's just the way a spent rechargeable battery behaves.

The new Unibody MBP's with the 7 hour battery are not designed to be "user replaced". In the event it needs to be replaced, you'd be required to send it to Apple in order to not void your warranty.

Having said that, there are several tutorials on the net on how to change it yourself.

I may be ordering the mac tablet if it actually comes out. So perhaps I will just keep this plugged in and save the cash for now.

Ok...I'm done not having a battery. Looks like I'm out the 130 that amazon is selling it for. Time to order.

You have a unibody, an its not uner warrenty still? You must of got one of the first ones. I never liked the battery. Would rather have 5 hours and just swap when needed.

Not a unibody. No unibodies came with the 8600GT.

My battery was covered under extended Apple care. It was 2.5 years old and had 280 cycles and istat showed 68% health. I called apple gave them those numbers and no problem. They send a new one and I send the old one back.

Before you give up and order a spare, give Apple Care a call. Often times speaking with an L2 agent (A product specialist or product advisor) should be able to get you a replacement at no charge.

I had the same with my my old SR MBP, under AppleCare they replaced it on the spot without any questions at the Apple Store via a Genius appointment. Though I have to say, this may not be the norm.
