hey guys, I have a macbook pro (older model) and I recently got a second external hard drive to back up my other external disk. Last year i lost all my music because of a drive failure and dont want it to happen again.

anyway my question is, is there a way (a program or something?) that I can use to back up files from one disk to another.

its kind of a pain to update the 2nd drive by copying the entire disk over again and was wondering if there's a way a program or something can recognize the missing files and just add what isn't already there, rather than copying the entire 300 GB over again.

    thanks for the help

Time Machine is used to back up your HDD inside your computer. The only way you could do what you are wanting to do is to copy the entire HDD onto both HDD's seperately.

I use a program called ChronoSync which does exactly what you're looking for. It's not free however, but well worth it.

you can also look into SuperDuper, I believe it is able to do incremental backups.
