I am getting ready to play around and reformat my 2007 macbook and pop on some old software to play around with. Can i install 1600 mhz ram into this machine? it's running at 667mhz. Will this ram work and just run at the slower clock?

Nevermind, just noticed the faster clock speed was ddr3 ram, not ddr2 as listed. I know what I need to buy now. I am trying to max out the ram in the macbook.

2GB DDR2 667Mhz if the officially supported limit.

3GB DDR2 will work and 4GB as well. However, when running 4GB, it will only utilize around 3GB due to some limitation

Just contacted the guy I bought the macbook off, he has the install disc for OSX on its way to me. Time to get some parts, 4gb of ddr2, and a 512gb ssd. How much space do the Mac programs take up? I am getting Iwork, Ilife, aperture 3, final cut studio and logic pro. I can use off device HD for storage. would 256gb work?

Your 512gb SSD should be enough.

Ok, perfect. I am going to order a new battery, SSD and ram next week. Should be a fun little project. Every windows computer I have is on 10, I need to get something running 95 or something again too. Ha ha.

Went to start installing the OS and the ssd is not recognized. Any ideas? Tried two different drives etc. The OS X disk is in the SuperDrive now and will not eject.
