    A poll was posted here asking the average macbook temperature, so I thought i'd link that one, as I just did, and start one here as well.

    Please vote according to heat after around an hour of normal use. Feel free to comment on others in a post.

    According to CoreDuo Temp whose accuracy I question I am at 46C after 3 hours 15 minutes of continuos uptime. It has been in use the entire time plugged and unplugged.

    Who is getting over 90??? You sure that's C and not F? If it is run don't walk to an Apple Store!

    With just some simple web browsing after an hour or so, corduotemp says 65c.

    I really do not think this thing is accurate. How could we be so far apart? Is there really that much parity between the Macs? xphrox, what week is yours? Mine is 17. Also, after about 45-60 minutes up doing browsing CoreDuo Temp is going between 19C and 25C. I do not believe that. I think this show that it may not be a good tool for measuring temp.

    Mine hovers between 65-70.

    I wish the fans would kick in more often. When I get up to 80C, they turn on for a few seconds and cool it right down to 30C again.

    A few seconds to cool it off 50c? Was that 30 a typo or was the seconds an understatement? =x

    If by week, you mean when I purchased the notebook. Mine was purchased the first week, so probably the first run. I'm seriously considering returning this thing for another because now the hinge on my macbook is squeaking when opening/closing/adjusting the screen.

    One more note, it dipped into the low 70's with firefox open, and watching a video in iTunes. At that point the fans came on and the bottom left corner was very hot. It was probably on 2-3 hours.

    The max for the core duo is 100C, however, safe is different from normal, normal for regular use after an hour shouldn't be over 50-55c.

    A few seconds = about 30 seconds. The fans cool it immediately regardless.

    By few I was thinking five because that's how I usually think few to mean, between three and five, thirty sounds much more realistic.

    Well I would think its safe to assume the warranty would be voided if you did that, the reason why Apple made the harddrive and memory accessable was because they were allowing them to be upgraded without warranty being voided, thus the easy access to them.

    Most people dont realize that there are tiny strips and stuff inside notebooks that break when you open one up, most of the time its not visible, and if you ever did return it...Apple would check for them. I know the Dell computers have something like this.

    The same type of tape is used in PS2's.....seriously...they check it when you send it back to sony as well....it's like a breakable tape used on many "Warranty Void if Removed" stickers...usually placed on HDD's and DVDRW drives.

    I didn't notice any warranty tape when I took my Macbook apart today.

    Mine gets around 40-45 for light work, and this is laying it on my bed...i used smcfancontrol to turn the default speed up to about 2400rpm...its still quite silent at that speed, and it seems to keep the bottom off the notebook nice and cool. I would definatly recommend this for anyone having heat problems...even at 4000 rpm...its very hard to hear the fans running.

    ah well, i just found CoreDuoTemp. Mine reads 62 C... dunno what that is in F. Been web surfing for 1.5 hours. I'll post what the temps are like after a few hours using Logic and Reason.

    Is there a way to make CoreDuoTemp start on boot up?

    I use smcFanControl.

    Conversion C->F: 9/5 * 62 + 32 = 169.2
    Conversion F->C: 5/9 * (F-32) = C

    CoreDuoTemp and iStat have been reading simular temps for me so I trust both programs. Did a test running Logic Express and Reason 3 for about 2 hours, working with 16 channels of audio and various plugins - stayed between 70-80 degrees celcius. Peaked at about 82 degrees celcius. From the touch it got pretty warm near the HDD. Nothing too scorching though. Still, it's cooler then some 17" pentium 4 notebooks.
