For those who've owned their MBA for a while I have a few questions, any feedback/comments would be appreciated.

I'm most interested to hear how you like it so far, how and what are you using it for, ie word processing, web or ?

Are you happy with the keyboard and the screen, how's the overall feel/handling with heavy typing and use?

Do you spend long periods of time on it and do a wide variety of work / tasks ... anyone using it as their main computer has it been fast enough to meet your needs?

    Thanks.

I used it for 2 weeks as my main computer a while back. My uses were basic for it, much like what you intend to use it for. Email, internet, typing reports and that stuff was fine. Heat was not an issue for these tasks, but when I startes watching youtube videos it started to get warmer, but not HOT.

THe screen was fine, not great but fine for basic tasks.

I abosolutely hated the fact that it had no CD drive and thus I will never buy a MBA for my main computer. At the very least I would buy a Macbook because it is cheaper, comes with more ports and a CD drive, higher specs, same size screen.

Could I use it as my main computer? No. Could I use it as a good netbook that accompanies my MBP? Definitely.

The keyboard is the same as the MBP and feels the same. While typing, the flatness of the MBA made typing feel more comfortable so I could see it being fairly good for hours of typing.

Overall speed is not fast but it isn't slow either. I had the 1.8" hard drive @4200 rpm so things weren't as snappy as I'm used to, But the newer ones might be different.

I bought my MBA about 3months ago. It is my only computer and I use it to access my medical office remotely, surf the Internet and do some writing in MS Word. I have a small Windows partition so I can use MS Publisher.
I have the 1.8 with the 128 SSD.

It is perfect for me. I like the keyboard and I am impressed with its speed.
I have no problems with it as my sole computer.

Coming from X301 you should adapt pretty quickly. You'll notice that the MBA will be a bit faster in day to day use due to the graphics and CPU differences. The X301 is built very well and feels solid. You will get the same impression of the MBA, but in an even smaller package. The display of the MBA is better quality, but you'll loose the higher res screen and it isn't matte. I didn't seem to have any problems with glare since the display is so bright.

Doing normal tasks won't be an issue on the MBA. I would not suggest using it for CPU intensive work or for tasks where you need a lot of screen real estate, but it is capable of doing just about anything you throw at it. Overall, the MBA is a very capable machine in a ultra small package. It will do 100% of what people typically demand of a general business machine.

I used one for 3-4 months and love it. It's a good machine for basic day to day use and I have no problems or regrets with it.

The only reason I sold it (and my Black MacBook at the time) was because the new Unibody Macs came out and I fell in love with them. If the Unibody wasn't such an incredible machine I probably would have kept my Air.
