Since iPods now come in black, IMO the iBooks will follow soon, considering how they use similar looking materials. The black version would sell by the bucketloads since it is a bit more practical and does not attract dirt as much.

So, anyone else would like to see black iBooks?

I heard the black shows scratches a lot more. Although my brother's PSP has a similar finish and has held up great.

I don't like the shiny black finish found on the PSP and Ipod nano and some other devices. It looks pretty at first, but I've found it to get scratches and fingerprints very, very easily.

Wow, thats horrible! What happened to it. Is that what really happens and how? Looks like there were rocks in your pocket when you put that thing in your pocket.

You don't have to have rocks in your pocket for it to look like it. That type of material just scratches EXTREMELY easily.

Just rub your finger across it, and you'll see a couple of new scratches, seriously. That type of material looks pretty at first, I'll admit, but just a couple of weeks and you'll see how pretty it is by then. I perfer black much over white, but I'll take the white nano just because it shows blemishes less easily.

I do remember just a couple of weeks ago there was an article on Engadget talking about how easily the black nano scratches. Somebody left a post about how there's a certain liquid solution that gets rid of those scratches and makes it look like new. I saw the pics of on a website of somebody applying the solution to his Ipod and it really did look like brand new, I was floored!! So, maybe there is some hope?

Is that your IPod by the way rdiver?

Yes, it's mine. That is after about a week.

Got it the Friday the week it came out. Gotta search for that solution.

note to self, avoid black iPod nano due to easy scratching and white earbuds look kind of odd with a black bodied device. which is too bad, because i'd prefer the black over the white.

The night I got it, I wiped the back chrome and the front with my cotton tshirt to remove some of the finger prints. The front then already had started to show scratches! Come on apple! Scratching from a cotton tshirt, thats ridiculous!

Yet again APPLE has shown that their products are style over function, they should of learned their lesson from the last time!. hopefully the stated battery times and software issues won't happen again, the shytsers!!! I think i will buy the new SONY walkman better battery life and it looks cooler anyway!

As to the question of black iBooks, I don't like ibooks but I have to admit if they came in black it would look pretty badass, and definitely have more appeal to a male crowd.

Exactly. The white iBooks now appear in female hair product commercials.
