    Are the Apple notebook + free ipods deals only around back to school?

    I might wait til then to get my MBP and get a free ipod. Or are they even doing that anymore? :X

    They usually only do it around back to school time.
    Last year my brother got a free ipod nano ($200 mail-in rebate) plus $200 off of his MBP (student discount). Sweet deal for any student.

    Combined with the $100 rebate for a printer, it's a really good deal.

    By the way, one has to pay the tax for the ($100) printer and the iPod, obviously; so they don't come exactly "for free".

    To answer the original question, yeah, that's usually the Buy a Mac, get an iPod promotion around Back to School time :).

    Student discount too, forgot about that :) Yeah, too bad tax is outrageous at Apple. I might get one from Amazon when the new refresh comes out this summer. Tax free :) I already have an iPod video, but it was just a though.

    And no, they don't do these kinds of promotions in Europe. Even the student discount is quite a bit less as in the States. And now with the dollar-euro exchange rate, our end of the stick is getting shorter and shorter.

    standard macbook pro State side is $1999 without tax. We pay $2350 without tax for the exact same thing ... how nice is that right :p
