Somtimes whenever I go to open an application, it opens but then closes straight away. This got very annoying in class today when I needed a crucial application, but had this problem. I ended up having to reboot in order for it to work.

Does anyone have the solution to this as I don't want it to happen at an important time anymore?

Which application are we talking about? Does a "Program closed unexpectedly" error pop up? Has this happened again since you restarted?

First it was MYOB AccountEdge and then it was iGetter. When I reboot it's fine though, but I think it starts again sometimes.

It basically pops up in the dock and then goes away straight away. No warning, no notification.

It is possibly an app specific problem, I am not familiar with either. Have you checked the logs (console app) to see if there is any error message regarding those apps?

I've found out that it's a problem with Rosetta and Application Enhancer. I think the only fix is to uninstall Application Enhancer but since I use Shapeshifter, ClearDock, WindowShade X etc. I don't think I can remove it.

I've found a temporary solution to this problem.

    Open terminal and type:

    sudo killall translated

This works for a while, but when they start not opening, you have to type it again.

Have you tried reinstalling the apps? Also, try repairing permissions. As a last ditch you can archive and install OS X, which will save your data.

you said you rebooted it. is that restarting it or what?

Yes, rebooting means restarting the computer. Have you tried repairing disk permissions?

Anyways, this thread is rather old, so please don't revive old threads in the future . I'll leave it open for a while, so you can get your problem solved.

Ok,sorry for keeping the thread alive abit long ,
anyway I tried repairing disk permissions, I still have the same problem.
I guess my last chance is backing up essential files and resarting!
