Hi, i just recently purchased a macbook and I am deciding to whether to purchase the 3 year Apple care extended warranty. The apple store sells it at $249 but I've found alot of sellers with much cheaper price on ebay (around $170), so my questions are:

    1) have anyone try the ones from Ebay? If so, any feedback? Anything to look out for?
    2) is it trustworthy? (some claim to just email you the code, some will send the actual box)

Thanks so much for your help!!

I've bought several on eBay. Picked up two MacBook Pros for $190 apiece. Just got the codes for those ones, and an Apple Display one for $49 delivered, in box. The code is all you need, which you enter on the Apple site and then Apple themselves send you the paperwork. I don't think it's a big deal if you don't physically have the code, as long as the code works!

I personally would want the box, to avoid scammers, make sure you get the box.

I don't think eBay or PayPal can help you if you are scammed unless it is a physical item.

I'd get the box too, although it's not stopping anyone from scamming you if they sent you the box with the code inside already used. I'd request a sealed box as they should come sealed from apple with a little grey sticker on top left (front cover) specifying what it covers.

Inside you'll get all the paperwork, code and a CD with Apple advanced diagnostic applications.

I got mine from an online store for 199 for my MBP (it retails for $399!) You can register your applecare online but that takes up to a week for apple to actually complete the registration. I would recommend you calling them and activate via phone so you'll know immediately if the code is valid.

In any case, do not buy Applecare from Apple. :)

    *sigh*

As long as the eBayer has good feedback (by which I mean 100%, with others having bought the same product), you'll be fine. Again, I bought several from reputable sellers and had no issue.

I've bought from eBay too. It's fine even w/o the box though some people may want the security. I got mine in code form and it worked well. I just made sure that I bought from a very reputable seller and I did a check on previous transactions to be sure that the rep was right.
