Apple make some great products, however many of their product have flaws such as the iPad for instance- no flash support and no USB support.
The apple iPhone- no push e-mail, unless you pay a substantial fee. Even MacBooks have their flaws, a super smart looking operating system that is still flawed by its incompatibility with other Hardware and Software products. Practicality and compatibility is allways better, that's why I'm going back to Windows.

    It's product obsolescence planning.

It's a common strategy to give "just enough" to the consumers so they will buy it on substantive grounds (IE: there is no iPad alternative), while giving the iPad 2 incredibly easy upgrades to gain repeat buyers (adding USB).

Just business. If the iPad had competition, this would be a different story.

    IBTL.

But can you find any product without a flaw? And these "flaws" are design choices. We can argue over the merits of each, but they make money more per unit than any other PC brand in the world, making them more profitable than companies that ship far more computers.

Thread will(is) deterorate into bickering, so thread closed.

Every product will have their pros/cons...match up the features of the products with your needs and wants and call it a day.
