Even though Apple may have fixed all the problems such as discoloration, overheating, shutdown, etc. Do you think the discoloration on the palm area will have its affect in years? I type a lot on laptops and most of the times my palms are on the laptop. Im afraid that if I get it (white) it will be discolored in a year or two.

The discoloration issue with the white MacBook had to do with an actual change in the color of the plastic, which was why it was a defect.

Over the years, your palm rest area might get somewhat dirty, but it is very simple to clean, so I would not worry about it.

However, if you are worried about it, there are some nice options.

I would definitely recommend something like Marware's protection pack for the 13" MacBook (available in both black and white).

    http://www.marware.com/cgi-bin/WebO...catalogCatID=224&wosid=CeCqpUXeYsr7TXlTGTd0A0

It includes a keyboard protector that protects the screen from anything on the keyboard while it is closed.

More specifically, it includes a hand rest protector that you can put over the hand rest, which will provide both comfort as well as protect the material underneath from scratches, etc. and also of course any dirt, etc. from your hands.

White iBooks have had no discoloration issues over the years. I wouldn't worry about it. The only reason the discoloration happened was because of a temporary change in plastics. I'm sure they've gone back to the old, proven iBook-style plastic. Also, if you're worried about dirt, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser you can pick up at any grocery store does a fantastic job of removing dirt from white iBooks. I imagine it works just as well for white Macbooks, but I haven't got mine dirty yet.

Also, some of the other brand of laptops (I'm not sure if this applies to the MB) finish will wear off with constant contact with the oils in your palm.
I've seen many Dell's, some Alienwares, Sagers and IBMs have this problem. There really isn't much you can do about wearing off the finish on those plastics, it's just normal wear and tear. Though, I'm sure regular cleaning of the palm area would help too.
