What to know what HTML5 is capable of?

Go to the link on Apple's website for a showcase demo showing how it can be used for advanced media on the web, including media(audio, video, pictures), typography and transitional effects.

Its opening also takes a clear shot at Adobe's assertions that Flash is a standard, pointing out that a plugin by definition can't be a standard feature.

So how is requiring Safari to view web content any different than forcing me to install a plugin? I've done everything in my power to avoid Safari like the plague after how clunky it was on my Mini and Apple's telling me their proprietary browser is better than a similarly proprietary plugin?

If I'm not mistaken Chrome or Firefox (non video) should be perfectly adequate for HTML5.

Apple is just trying to push Safari for these tests. For other content it doesn't matter.

I just tried using User Agent on Firefox to masquerade iPhone 3.0. It gets me past the simple filter but doesn't show the good stuff properly...

I think they would do better to show how a site like Hulu could go HTML5.
