So this is great news, at least for me, as my Macbook Pro had symptoms, once. I even started a thread about it, but it seems as though my computer is just fine, haven't had a glitch since...

    But great news nonetheless!

"between May 2007 and September 2008" means that they continued to use the defective cards long after this problem was publicly acknowledged.

Well this bad. Apple knowingly used the faulty chip-set, and neglected to tell the public about it. Shame on Apple.

The good news is that they owned up to the problem, but that means nothing considering they hid it in the first place.

Didn't Apple not know because NVidia said that only some of the machines are effected etc. It wasn't until they investigated themselves that they've reach to this conclusion? Just making sure I'm understanding the story right.

They're also willing to refund any prices you pay for repair which sounds pretty good for me o:

Not really. Apple doesn't own Nvidia and apple isn't responsible for Nvidia's mistakes. Good for them for repairing laptops out of warranty for free. I'm betting a bunch of chips just failed one year in. (Mine just died. Weird.)

two years?!?!?! i've got apple care and that covers 3 years!! they knowingly sells defective units; all this times i was thinking/hoping it was driver problem. :(

oh, by the looks of the article; apple only covers the one (mbp) with severe to dead symptoms.

my 1 year old 17 mbp only has around 100 hour of useage (i know :p, ive been busy with the couple of games that came out last year) i only have like intermitent graphic glitch or the one where video resizing froze the system which require force shutdown (though that seems to be alleviated by the video driver update). i wonder if this is classified as requiring replacement... although i dont want them to touch my still mint mbp... yet..

    This is great news.

Maybe I was being overly cautious, but since my original one year warranty expired, I quit playing graphic intensive games since I knew I couldn't afford to repair my laptop if the GPU failed.

Now that I'm covered until August 2009, I can go back to playing BioShock. :D

Macbook Pros had these Nvidia GPUs for 2 years before the whole fiasco came to known.

i will only be satisfied if only apple agree to replace the notebook regardless of how long we have it, if the GPU decide to fail.

at least cover it for 5 years!
