Apple pushes the reset button on the Mac Pro
    https://techcrunch.com/2017/04/04/apple-pushes-the-reset-button-on-the-mac-pro/
Posted 13 hours ago by Matthew Panzarino ( @Panzer)

"“If we’ve had a pause in upgrades and updates, we’re sorry for that — what happened with the Mac Pro — and we’re going to come out with something great to replace it.”

Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller is talking to a small group of reporters in a white stucco building near its headquarters in Cupertino. The purpose of the discussion, while somewhat unclear initially, reveals itself a few minutes in.

The news, if you want it straight: Apple is acknowledging that the Mac Pro they introduced in 2013 has run aground on the cleverness of its own design, and they’re re-thinking the entire machine. In addition, they’ll be releasing a new external display — something it had previously opted out of.

But none of that is coming this year. Today, we’ll see a performance bump on the old design of Mac Pro, which will remain on sale for now. And later this year we’ll see improved iMacs that Apple feels will appeal to a segment of Pro users, as well."

    Reddit:

In an extremely rare move, Apple admits its current mac pro design was a mistake. Reveals they are working on a fully modular Mac Pro, to be released next year.

Standardized parts and a 5K Thunderbolt Display would definitely put the Pro back in Mac Pro.

Yeah, the Mac Pro cylinder was a short sighted bust. Pros want big, expandable towers. I still use a 2010 Mac Pro for some work. I never bought into the Cylinder. CPU is a bit long in the tooth for single or limited threaded apps, but it is still rocking 32gb with a 980 and 4TB of SSD storage.

What would be really great is if Apple had two monitor offerings: the aforementioned 27-inch 5K as well as a 32-inch 8K.

I'm sad to say that they are pretty late on this, when I reviewed the Corsair-One and saw that the asking price was it turns out that it's about $300+ on what it would take to build the system yourself part for part. I don't think I need to state any further that Apple WOULD NEVER DO THAT, they'd easily charge $600 to $1000 more on top of parts for their system. The fact that the Corsair-One is Liquid Cooled both GPU and CPU, has me Dreamy... Like the first time I saw a Sports Cars as a kid... Now they probably did rip the idea off of Apple, but nobody makes better Fans then Corsair they've been doing it for how long now? (That Single Fan on this system is VERY important because both radiators are then utilizing that single fan to move or displace heat....) In testing the GPU never went above 54C... Which to me was impressive of course they did not overclock but I don't think I'll be overclocking either... Very difficult to get all of that in a ITX. The only Con this system has is that it's not really upgradeable, but when has an Apple User ever been able to upgrade, lol.... So I'm used to it, the PC people are shaking their heads...

I DO LOVE THAT THE MAC PRO WILL BE MADE IN USA though, that's AWESOME!!!!

Now by no stretch am I a PC Fanboy or an Apple Hater, I love my Macbook Pro and I've had numerous posts on here to support that. I am however always in search of Value, and I don't think anyone could argue with me that the Corsair-One provides alot of value for users who are looking for that* and Apple really has their work cut-out for them to catch up to this because the bar has now been set, and I just placed my Pre-Order for this system which will be here next week... I mean OSX is great, but it's not that great (to make up for everything else)

    CORSAIR ONE PRO:
    Processor: Intel Core™ i7 7700K, 4.5GHz Max Turbo Frequency, Liquid-Cooled
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1080 8GB, Boost Clock 1,771 MHz, Base Clock 1,632MHz, Liquid-Cooled
Memory: 16GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX 2,400MHz
Storage: CORSAIR FORCE LE 480GB SSD, 1TB HDD
    Motherboard: Custom MSI Z270 Mini-ITX
PSU: CORSAIR SF400 80PLUS GOLD SFX
    Chassis: Black, Aluminum, VR-Ready
OS: Windows 10 Home and future Microsoft updates

    $2,199.99

I'll have the system in like a week I'm pretty excited... I didn't even need the 1080 I'm fine with a 1060 or 1070 but the 1080 was the only one that was Liquid Cooled so I went with that

Yeah because for health reasons it's important to eat Apples made in the USA, you wouldn't want to eat Apples Made in ______ would you? You could get sick and die o_O And we wouldn't want that now would we?

When Apple have balls to call it a flawed product and scrap the model for a new one... Maybe Azor and Dell should adopt the balls as well? Aka back to socket hardware. They could still use BGA for the smaller Alienware 13.
