    So... my girlfriend...

New Unibody Macbook 2.4... the trackpad wasn't responding well. You'd click it and there would be no response. You'd have to click extra hard just to click whatever you're trying to click on.

Laptop is well over a month old... maybe 6 weeks. There is no Applecare on it yet...

She took it to the store...they looked at it...and then...

"Oh since you just got it, instead of us repairing it, we'll just give you a brand new one."

    Bravo Apple.

good job apple. not many companies have the servise apple does... personaly the reason I would buy an apple isn`t OSX, or the design. its the support. but that support still doesn`t justify them being double the price of a PC.

That's the winning combination right there. :D Apple support is second-to-none, and I hope it stays that way for years to come.

Apple really needs to bring it all together..

They need to support my wanting of a 17" new MBP and get to designing a plan to deliver it to me ASAP for free along with the MacOS which is purdy.

    I'm just saying.... ;)

    o rly?

My friend got the MBP, and 3 weeks later the GFX were acting weird...

They wouldn't replace it or refund it or anything... they fixed it, which is ok i guess, but still, $2400 on a laptop with apple care and after 3 weeks they wouldn't just give the poor guy a new one :(

    Good for your GF though!

Apple support is not consistent. There are good stories and bad stories about support just like any other company.

Of course, not every single case is fantastic but Apple's customer service is rated as better than the rest of the industry!

Seems like human factor to me.

The thing here is tho, that the good stories are pretty good.

The worst you really hear is that they keep trying to fix it...

WOuldn't it also depend on the store? I'm sure the managers/owners would have final say and it depends on how nice they are.

Hot girls are always treated better by the perverted "geniuses" at Apple stores. These "geniuses" act just like the perverted male professors at universities.

Not only at the Apple store, but just in general anywhere.

That's why, bring your GF or a hot friend with you if you ever need to return, exchange, or buy something... have her do it for you.

I took my early MacBook (bought on August 22, 2008) into the Apple Store because three of the corners on the upper case are lifting up. I take very good care of this thing and the genius even commented on how nice it looked. The genius said the case separation was from typical use so he didn't want to replace. "Plastic flexes and separates inherently" etc. He said i shouldn't worry about it until I could see electrical components through the separation. Does thing sound like a typical response from Apple for this problem?

    Not to me.
My macbook white was having a crack on the case, I did not see any thing electrical components insides neither, and the apple girls replace it for me without asking any question
You may go to the store again and talk with someone else. :D Gud luck.

I'm going to suggest this might have been because the trackpad was directly an Apple issue whereas the graphics issue was likely an nVidia issue. Granted, Apple chose to use it in their laptop, however I am guessing there is some kind of agreement between Apple and nVidia to replace dysfunctional graphics cards...
