    I was wondering if the use of older applications alongside newer versions of the same app is "kosher" as far as Apple's OS X software licensing restrictions pertain.

    Here's an example;

    I detest the implementation of versions and the loss of "Save As" in Apple's applications. (I know, some of you love it. Please don't try and convince me).

    I have found that I can use some of Snow Leopard's applications (copied over from an earlier clone backup) alongside the Lion Apps, and they work just fine. Particularly Snow Leopard's Text Edit App.

    Can anyone think of any violation of the terms of the license? I own the license for the Snow Leopard (it used to be on my system). I have legitimately upgraded to Lion.

    I can't really see where this would be a problem. It isn't like they can mandate you can only use this version of software with only that version of OS. If anything they just don't support it and you're on your own if you try unusual configurations of software.
